Selling your home can be very overwhelming and time consuming, so it’s important that you find the right Realtor for you and your family. Here a few tips for finding the right Realtor!
- Find a realtor with experience in your area. You want a realtor who knows the area well.
- Ask friends and family for referrals to realtors they’ve previously used and loved.
- Don’t be afraid to ask any candidates some tough questions, treat it like an interview process.
- How many homes have you sold in the past year? In my neighbourhood? (This ensures you find a realtor who is actively engaged in the market)
- Of those, how many times did you represent the buyer vs the seller? (When selling, you don’t want a realtor who has only ever represented the buyer)
- How will you market my property? What is your overall strategy?
- Do you have preferred partners that I can leverage during the selling of my home (i.e., Painters, contractors, staging companies etc.)
- What makes them the best candidate? (What sets them apart from other realtors?)
- Confirm who you will be dealing with on a regular basis, the realtor, or an assistant? And how often will they be in touch?
- Do your research and speak with more than one realtor before making a decision.
- Determine your goals and expectations for selling your home and ensure you share those with potential realtors.
- Ensure the realtor will work with your schedule.
- Check out reviews and ask for references.
Finally, trust your gut. If something doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t – move on and keep looking. You want someone who understands your selling needs and you can work with. Good luck!
